The first week was spent traveling North up the Inside Passage. It took about seven or eight days. We stopped twice. Once in Ketchikan to pick up the second crewmember and once in Petersburg. The rest of the time we took shifts sleeping and shifts in the wheel house running the boat straight through.
The coast changes from rolling tree covered mountains to high snow and ice capped mountains North of Ketchikan. The first glaciers were seen a few days later South of Juneau. One memorable section had us traveling through a narrow cut for eight or so hours. High hills to both sides with dozens of waterfalls all over ranging in height from river outlets to 500+ feet waterslides.
Aside from a few passing boats, we had the entire place to ourselves. The marine life is abundant here and it really feels like a wild frontier.
