The valley in Chamonix is a few miles from the Italian and Swiss borders. I'm with a friend who owns an apartment high up on the mountain side in Finhaut. This is the type of mountain village everyone pictures Swizerland to be like. The views of the surrounding mountains seem more in focus here than a few miles south in the valley.
