Friends at the Gite
There are about ten of us staying for the season. We usually take turns cooking for each other twice a week.
"Most people stayed at the Gite because it was inexpensive but many stayed as it was a phenomenal way to meet people and to fully enjoy the alpine experience. You could cook there, socialise and entertain, sit on the deck and look at sensastional views of Mont Blanc. I loved it because there was a continuous flow of some of the most interesting people i have ever met and I beg to differ but staying at a two to five star hotel is not nearly as interesting or as social.
"When you travel anywhere on this planet your fondest memories are usually of the people you meet and in this regard the Belvedere provided exaclty that. It is the sort of place you can return to in five, ten or fifteen years time and know you will bump into some of the same friendly faces which is rare." -McGrath, author who stayed at the Gite last season
