Keremeos BC Cherry Land

I was riding into this town and saw eight tents pitched right next to a large field of cherry trees. I pulled in to see what all the excitement was about. Loud music was blasting from a car stereo and everyone had beers or boxes of wine in their hands. I figured I couldn't go wrong if I stopped in to say hi to this group of fun seekers. They were French Canadians on holiday spending there summer here in BC. They pick cherries to fund their vacation. If I wanted to join in the picking I was told to show up to the next field at 4:30 am with a bucket, harness, and ladder in hand. I ended up staying four nights with this group and earned $300 over the course of three mornings picking thousands of cherries. A book or volumes of books could be written on the life and times of a French Canadian cherry picker on holiday.
